Winter is here

This weekend was the first time this year it actually felt like winter. Saturday morning it was pretty cold and snowing. The air temps in the high 20's at sunrise and never got out of the 30's. Water temp was a steamy 36. I got to the creek early enough to hear nothing but the sound of snowfall hitt...

Re: WTB 4" dredge floats

Yeah, 1/4" sounds like #4. #3 is close as well, just a hair difference between #3 and #4. Good luck & have fun!

Re: WTB 4" dredge floats

I don't think I have ever used #7. I've seen the #7, Sanman and I looked at #7 at a store in Richmond and it was way too big for a 16" wide dredge sluice. That stuff is 7lbs per square foot and is simply massive. I'm using #4 (officially called "grating" by the metal world) in the top...

Re: CC Highbankers please note

Got a lot more of that hole filled in this weekend using tails from the dredge. It looks better, but there's still work to be done there and upstream another 100' where the next holes are.

CC Highbankers please note

For those high banking at CC, please stop tearing into and under the raised banks of the creek. Not only is it destructive and illegal, but it's also hideous and shameful to look at. There are literally hundreds of us who have thousands of hours cleaning up crap just like this. Please stop before yo...

Re: New level of stupid

You are right, I actually look forward to smoothing tails! The regular 2" hose is great for massive fill jobs, and then the 2" firehose is sweet for finishing touches.

Re: New level of stupid

Yup, I use the 2" uber-blaster directly off the pump output. It's fast, easy, and requires zero effort with a shovel (best part!).

New level of stupid

Here's a whole new level of stupid... someone moving the embankment rocks under the bridge, digging holes, and leaving the embankment rocks out of place. People like this are going to ruin this hobby. Either they don't know better or they know better and simply don't care. Whoever is doing this, ple...

Re: How's the water level at CC?

Got rain on Tuesday, about an inch where I live so the creek should have some good water. Yes, people are dredging, highbanking, panning, and sluicing.

Re: How's the water level at CC?

We got a little rain on Tuesday, but nothing that amounted to anything. Water is very low, very dry late-summer and early fall. Probably some of the lowest Oct water we've had in some time.

Re: Check from CCPL

Chuck, The lease we had would not have been the success it was without this forum and your management of its existence. Not a single CCPL member requested a 2017 refund, and that is freaking awesome! Donating the balance of our lease account to this forum will serve a purpose and we are all glad to ...
