Re: Keep Sanman in your prayers

His surgery had some complications which resulted in him being in the ICU for a couple days afterwards. He's making progress, but slowly. I get updates from his family daily and will definitely keep you all updated on his recovery and progress. He's a tough old coot, strong as an ox. He knows we are...

Re: crayfish in Contrary?

Yes, there are crayfish in there as well as minnows and turtles. It's definitely gotten better in the last 10 years, even lots of green plant growth along the banks. As far as the critters, there seems to be more of them further downstream below the primary feeders. That's probably where they're com...

Re: Suction Hose Repair

Yup, Gorilla tape would work as a temporary fix. I've had that stuff on a jet for two years. The jet started to wear out so I cut a soup can and fitted it over the jet. Next I wrapped the repair with Gorilla tape. It's by no means a permanent fix, but it's been on there a while and seems to be holdi...

Re: CCPL spring cleanup?

Thanks everyone, we're monitoring the bankruptcy status. Our lease automatically renews each year when our payment is made. We've tried every possible way to contact the owners and have delivered two separate checks about a month apart from each other. The first check was returned to Adawg "und...

Re: reducing 4 inch to 3 inch

Just give them a call and find out what you can and cannot do, it's not worth guessing.

Necking a 4 down to a 3 (necking the nozzle down completely, not just adding a ring) will definitely slow down your 16" sluice box. You'd have to up the RPMs to match normal flow through that sluice.

Re: reducing 4 inch to 3 inch

Two quick points: 1. Wyoming dredge regs go by the measurement of "the suction hose intake", as they outline in Section II on page 1 of their regulations and defined again in Section C on page 4 under Equipment as: "All small portable suction dredges must have a suction hose intake of...

Re: Anyone used a Gold Claw Pan?

I like round pans because I use the shape of the pan to create a steady swirling action. Not sure how you do that with what looks like a hospital piss pan...

Re: Bedrock and gold conundrum

Rough bedrock is certainly a fantastic gold trap, and how the rock dips down and rises back up has a major impact on creating those different pressure areas along shallow and smaller creeks. Gradual up and down slopes in bedrock seem to decent hold values. Immediate and drastic drops in bedrock (whe...
