Re: New Keene ultra mini box

The primary key to all fantastic gold recovery systems is classification. Screening down has been proven to be the best way to recovery higher percentages of fine gold. You'll notice that in all larger wash plants (not dredges) that raw material is screened down two or three times before the materia...

Re: Anyone going out this weekend

Yeah, there's only a few places on that creek where you can get in full sun. Even so, that won't help in crap like this. I have a solid 200 gallon ice cube in my shed (275 gallon cleanup container under the shaker table). Geez, a 1500 lb ice cube, that's gonna take a month to thaw out!

Re: Anyone going out this weekend

The challenge of winter mining is definitely fun to tackle. My personal threshold for being cold is pretty broad and I like the mental challenge, but there's not much you can do in water when air temps are that far below freezing. Any water exposed to air instantly freezes. The workable low air temp...

Re: 3" and 4" Keene Dredges Available

Thx Bill. Please keep an eye open for a 5" or 6" for sale. I also still need to get a flair for a 4" Proline.

Re: Anyone going out this weekend

Oh man, sorry it was difficult. The low temps can cause havoc and thick ice is definitely a show stopper. I can deal with frozen snot sickles, but you're done once the sluice riffles start to freeze over. You're pretty much wasting your time at that point. I saw a similar heated sock product on flea...

Re: Anyone going out this weekend

Soup man... bring soup. I love winter dredging. CC turned me on to winter work because of the lack of water there during the summer. Working there between Nov-Feb has taught me a lot about winter dredging, equipment care, and most importantly how to stay warm. I can't count how many trips hav...

Re: Winter is here

I pushed the embankment/easement boulders back in place on the 16th so if they are pulled back out then we have someone who is too stupid to quit.

Re: Winter is here

Got out for a bit on Saturday just in the morning. 25 degrees, creek was frozen over and had 1"+ of ice, almost 2" in some places. Took well over an hour to get setup and get running. There were a couple other brave souls from PA out high banking, young prospector found nice lil' nugget! M...

Winter is here

This weekend was the first time this year it actually felt like winter. Saturday morning it was pretty cold and snowing. The air temps in the high 20's at sunrise and never got out of the 30's. Water temp was a steamy 36. I got to the creek early enough to hear nothing but the sound of snowfall hitt...

Re: WTB 4" dredge floats

Yeah, 1/4" sounds like #4. #3 is close as well, just a hair difference between #3 and #4. Good luck & have fun!

Re: WTB 4" dredge floats

I don't think I have ever used #7. I've seen the #7, Sanman and I looked at #7 at a store in Richmond and it was way too big for a 16" wide dredge sluice. That stuff is 7lbs per square foot and is simply massive. I'm using #4 (officially called "grating" by the metal world) in the top...

Re: CC Highbankers please note

Got a lot more of that hole filled in this weekend using tails from the dredge. It looks better, but there's still work to be done there and upstream another 100' where the next holes are.

CC Highbankers please note

For those high banking at CC, please stop tearing into and under the raised banks of the creek. Not only is it destructive and illegal, but it's also hideous and shameful to look at. There are literally hundreds of us who have thousands of hours cleaning up crap just like this. Please stop before yo...
