Saturday Pick and I decided to head out to Rappahannock River Campground to see what 's cooking. Rumour had it that Goldveiner might be sneaking on out there.
Here is what it looks like
Here are some shots of the river
As you can see the water was still really high
I know what you are thinking...sorry boys, no dredging allowed
Sure enough ...we found Goldveiner sneaking around down there
Now, some of you have been asking about a place to camp. This place is on the Rappahannock River, which, I think will be quite good when the river drops. They are very sensitive to offering a pristine quite camping environment, so I don't think we'll ever see a time when we will be allowed to run dredges there. I would also suggest that we be extra sensitive about digging in the bank. However, if you are looking for a good place to pan and run a sluice, I think this is it. The River is here and Rock Run empties into it on the other bank. It's an old Ford so the water is normally shallow enough to wade across to Rock Run
Also, they book their camping spots up very fast so make your reservations early. Another possibility is to rent a canoe from them and drift down river and pan for gold. Hmmm.
Here is their web site, let em know you saw it here
