Postby shack » Wed Jun 23, 2010 3:22 pm

Dear prospectors from PA who were visiting CC on 21/22 June 2010. This is not the first time you have done this and have already been warned. I have pictures of your license plates from all your vehicles, along with pictures of your vehicles and the area you were both camping, making fires, and digging into and under the banks.

If you do not respond with a post, PM, or email by Sunday, 27 June 2010 by midnight, on Monday, these photos and your vehicle information will be turned in to the Area 4 Virginia State Police Barracks in Mineral, as well as the to the owner of the property and firm which manages the property. Finally, the photos that I have been given will be posted on this site and every gold prospecting forum I can find, along with a description of your pathetic actions.

Please feel free to contact the State Police in advance.

Virginia State Police
Area 4 Office
3707 Cross County Road
Mineral, Virginia 23117

Or call them at (804) 556-4115.

Either way, We'll be hearing from you, or you'll be hearing from them. The choice is yours.

Thanks,

Just trying to protect that which is worth protecting. You all have done just as much to that place as I have and have every right to be just as mad.

One of these days the owner will be down touring the property. The day he see's this stuff is the same day we lose the creek as a place to enjoy our hobby.

Here's one of their holes...

I am in no way taking these guys side because they were wrong in what they did. There was a time when I was just beginning prospecting and I didn't know how that could be detrimental to the stream and the enviroment. I never did do something like that though. I have learned a lot just by reading posts from a great bunch of guys on forums like this and I let all of the good info sink in and I thank all of the experienced prospectors for passing along good information like this. I also spent a lot of time living in Pa. and my 2 kids still live up there and my son is a true outdoorsman who respects the land. Thanks again for all of the good information and hopefully these morons will wise up.

But why after already being warned are you giving these self-centered prospectors 4 DAYS to respond???

They by their actions have more or less said to all other CC prospectors "screw you, we don't care about anyone else"!!!

You have more patients than I do when it comes to this matter.

I don't want there to be any confusion as to "who" this msg is for. There are plenty of good folks from PA who come down and responsibly enjoy prospecting at CC.

If you see your license plate below, then this post is for you.

Outrageous, Shack.

If you have costs associated with this I think it would be appropriate for you to discuss with the other Mods
about setting up a Pay-Pal button on this site to help defray costs. I would contribute fer sure.

Shack,
That picture you took is of the place that I was checking out during the Memorial day weekend. (Remember I asked you "how far into the bank is too far?") When I went down to work behind the boulders across the creek, I saw a black trash bag sticking out of that pile of rocks, and went to grab it, and found a whole bunch of trash I.E. Trash bag, beer cans, junk food wrappers, and about 20 of those little plastic cheap cigar tips. I've been down there a bunch of times over the last few months, and every time that bank looks worse. I'm kind of guessing these guys aren't just one time visitors, but have routinely been down there trashing the area.
Just my 2 cents

Skip, the photos were provided by another concerned prospector who was on the creek that day.

These people may still be there on the creek this week, so I figured it might be best to give them a few days to see the post, if they even check this forum.

In reality, all we can do is forward the pictures and plates to the owner, and report the actions taken by two very decent and trustworthy guys. Of course, that is NOT in our best interest because I know full well what he will do, to both the people and with regards to our access to the creek. Either way, the right thing to do is to tell him what is happening to his property.

I will be sending him this information on Monday so that on his next visit, he doesn't walk up on this and accuse the regulars and the responsible visitors of doing it. Dude, I know if he see's this *&#) without a warning or notification, he will go insanely balistic.

Jason, hey bud, these folks are not first-time visitors. I remember Kev and I stopping and talking to you about that bank a few weeks ago when you were digging out in the water 15 feet or so from there. You were fine were you were at. These guys dug that thing out in the past 4 days. I was just down there on Saturday and it was not like this. The pics don't really show how far under the cave goes. That old tailing pile that creates the elevated creek bank is about to cave in, and the trees growing on top of it will go with it.
