Creek Conditions

Postby TnGldHntr » Wed Jul 28, 2010 1:27 pm

Hey Gang!!!!!

I was wondering what the condition of the creek, roads and trails. I know we have been getting a lot of rain lately and was wondering if the creek had enough flow for a 3 foot sluice and how muddy any of the roads or trails might be.

Which creek? If it is Contrary, the water is Low with a capital low, however, we were able to get two 4 inch dredges in there a few weeks ago. There is enough water to get a sluice box in there. you shouldn't have too many problems, just be prepared to be creative with getting some flow through the box.

I meant Contrary never been there and would like to give it a try. Sounds like I might have to give it a pass if the water flow isn't the greatest since I dont own a dredge.

Don't get me wrong, the water is good enough to get a 36" sluice in no problem. When I was there two weeks ago, there was someone running material through his sluice box, and he was getting good gold. You just might have to create some kind of small rock diversion, or dam to get extra flow. Nothing difficult at all. Roads leading to the creek are state highways, and you don't have to worry about trails getting to the creek. Just a little hill separating the parking area from the water. Just remember to bring plenty of sunscreen, water, and gatorade.
