Postby Rockhound » Sun Mar 03, 2013 8:58 pm

This is among the weirdest things that have ended up in my pan, not to mention how the heck did it even get in contrary creek in the first place? nonetheless i thought it was a cool find and would share it.

Now that is a real neet find. It Could be a bear tooth, or maybe even a Bear Claw. It must have been in the creek for a long time so it would be hard to tell, but Here is a photo of my Bear Claw, to at least make a comparison .

Don't know what it is, but it's not a tooth. I'm just saying that from my opinion, but I've seen a lot of teeth... Looks like part of maybe a worm tube formed when the whole area was underwater millions of years ago...possibly a bone frag....It's more along those lines... Teeth pretty much still look like teeth after millions of years. Even if it was a Pleistocene bear, or similar, it wouldn't degrade like that under almost every circumstance. Odd though, I'll give you that....

I own a Spinosaurus tooth I picked up at a Gem/Fossil fair long time back.
I've also found fossil shark's teeth before as well. I would doubt that's a
tooth but suspect claw of some sort. The water at CC is extremely acidic
like you wouldn't believe. So wear and discoloration is likely due to CC itself.
Doubt it is a Shack tooth but if you put some Old-Bay on it & Deep Fry it
he might eat it. Deep Fry, mmmmmm.

I had a tooth knocked out down there a few years ago by an angry hose with a busted coupling. I was dredging in the only place on that creek deep enough to dive without starting a hole. The spot was rumored to be an old mine shaft, but it just looked like a deep spot in the terrain to me. I caught that baby right in the jaw. That tooth is gone, I can promise you that, and I haven't been back there since (still pissed about the tooth and jaw, it cost a fortune to get my face fixed). Ya just can't fix ugly...

Not sure what that is that you found, I've yet to find any bones in the actual creek and wonder what that water would do to bones or teeth. I know what it does to iron and skin.

Well I have no clue what it is . I have found so much strange stuff in that creek ..I had to make myself stop looking
at all the stuff . Was cutting into my dredging time .
Yeah, there is a lot of acid in that creek, so it might be a Jimmy Page guitar pick for all I know !

might be a petrified fossilized rock
or it could be rock imitating a tooth
part of an ancient Indian spear
or what is left of a tool
whatever it is
it looks pretty cool
now if it was gold
we'll then I would drool.

It has the same grey texture as some rocks in that area.
Might be a piece of that Russian meteorite.

Sulfuric Acid which is the acid in the creek attacks organic material.
Eats it breaks it up.
I'll show you shack next time you come over I'll put some paper in it and watch it dissolve.
It is slower in the creek because it is diluted.
Same as a drain opener it eats hair and busts clogged drains open.
